The Ordinance increases Transactions and Use taxes from 0.9600% to 1.46%. Transactions tax is charged on personal property sold by retailers within City limits. Use tax is imposed on storage, use or consumption of personal property purchased from retailers within City limits. The State Board of Equalization administers and enforces the Ordinance. Penalties are included for failure to pay the taxes and for providing false tax returns. The Ordinance must receive simple majority approval.
